The installation of the new fence around the Zhabokrych Jewish Cemetery

The installation of the new fence around the Zhabokrych Jewish Cemetery

This project was made possible with the support of the Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office).

The ESJF is sincerely grateful to Olena Prysiazhniuk from Zhabokrych for her initiative and active contribution to this project.

The Jewish history of Zhabokrych ended tragically: as a result of wars, pogroms, and the Shoah in the 20th century, not a single Jewish resident remained in the village. Yet Jews had lived there since the first half of the 18th century.

Today, the cemetery stands as the last physical testimony to the Jewish community of Zhabokrych. The new fence serves as a reminder that the memory of this community lives on.
