These days we are cleaning the area, clearing thick bramble and bushes, and removing garbage that had been thrown into the cemetery. The burial site preserves around ten tombstones.
The Giurtelecu Șimleului Jewish cemetery is the fourth cemetery we are fencing in Sălaj county and the tenth in the country.
The construction of the metal fence there was made possible thanks to the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt), as well as the work of our local coordinator in Romania and the President of the Jewish Community of Sălaj (Comunitatea Evreilor Zalau Sj), Dan Has.
