Local residents, heritage researchers, museum professionals, and journalists learned how to interpret the symbols on matzevot. Students from the International Interdisciplinary Certificate Program in Jewish Studies also took part in the event. The workshop was led by Eugene Levinzon.

The ESJF extends its gratitude to the Horodok City Council, and especially to Serhii Shchur, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, Nationalities, Religions and Tourism, for the warm welcome and support.
This educational event, as well as the fencing of the burial site, were made possible through the generous funding of the Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office).
We’d also like to remind about the International Jewish Cemetery Research Competition, which offers a chance to explore and study the Jewish cemetery in Horodok and other sites.
