The ESJF is installing a new fence around the Jewish cemetery in Hliník nad Váhom, Slovakia

The ESJF is installing a new fence around the Jewish cemetery in Hliník nad Váhom, Slovakia. This Jewish cemetery had been left neglected for years. Our surveyors documented graffiti on the grounds, and many tombstones were found broken or piled together. Being situated right next to the road, the site was especially at risk without proper fencing.

Today, around 50 tombstones remain there, along with the ohel of Leopold Popper, a Jewish businessman who was granted the title of baron.

The fencing project that the ESJF is currently carrying out at the Jewish cemetery in Hliník nad Váhom is made possible with the help of our partners at Židia na Slovensku (the Federation of Jewish Communities in Slovakia), particularly Henrich Stern, our national coordinator.
