This year, the ESJF intends to complete several fencing projects in the Vojvodina region in northern Serbia. In July, we finished work at the Kać Jewish cemetery, where around 10 tombstones remain preserved. The oldest dates back to 1882, and the most recent to 1929.
In addition to fencing, the ESJF is currently conducting surveys across the country to identify Jewish cemeteries that have never been documented. These sites remain unknown and unprotected, and locating them is a crucial step toward their preservation.
The fencing project at the Kać Jewish cemetery was funded by the Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office) and made possible with the help of our partners at the Federation of Jewish Communities in Serbia, especially our country coordinator, Ladislav Trajer.
