The Batrad Jewish cemetery in Ukraine has been cleared under ESJF care programme

The Batrad Jewish cemetery in Ukraine was cleared of over-growth early this month. The ESJF fenced and protected this burial site in 2016 with funding from the Auswärtiges Amt. The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown, but it can be assumed that it emerged in the 19th century. The ESJF recently cleared this burial as part of our care programme in Ukraine, which aims to start a long-term project for looking after Jewish cemeteries across Europe. For the next year, Bagu Josef, a local resident, will take care of this site. However, to continue and expand our programme we need your help!! Please get in touch via social media or email (info@esjf-cemeteries.org), if you would like to support our project by sponsoring a burial site like Batrad.
