Historical overview
The Jewish cemetery emerged no later than the mid-19th century, as the earliest preserved tombstone dates to 1868. It existed until 1963, as is said in Yiddish and Lithuanian on the memorial stone on the site. According to the Kulturos Vertubiu Registras, it was partly built over during the construction of the Vilnius-Kaunas road.
