Historical overview

There appears to have been two Jewish cemeteries in Tiszakóród. This cemetery was established as early as 1895, since it appears on the cadastral map of that year. No legible tombstones were preserved or found in the cemetery which could supply additional information about the cemetery’s period of operation.

According to census data, there were 18 Jews in Tiszakóród in 1840. In 1880, the Jewish population peaked at 51, and the same number was registered in 1910. 22 Jews lived in the village in 1920, 21 in 1930, and 27 in 1941. However, according to the Yad Vashem database, about 52 Jews from Tiszakóród were murdered in the Holocaust.
