Historical overview

The Jewish cemetery of Tiszacsécse was established as early as 1891, since it appears on the cadastral map of that year. Only three tombstones were found preserved in the cemetery, the latest of which dates to 1922. The cemetery has not been fenced and the land belongs to a private owner.

According to census data, the Jewish population in Tiszacsécse never exceeded 10 people, which was the peak number of Jewish inhabitants in the village in 1840. In the subsequent years, the Jewish population was as follows: 8 in 1880, 5 in 1910, 4 in 1920, 5 in 1930, and 4 in 1941. According to the Yad Vashem database, about 9 Jews from Tiszacsécse were murdered in the Holocaust.
