General site condition
Unfenced Jewish cemetery. Most of the gravestones were damaged by locals searching for "Jewish treasures" years ago. The cemetery is located in a wooded area and is therefore somewhat overgrown. Clearance and fencing are required.

40. According to locals, during construction of Varash, excavators dug up multiple graves. Some of the tombstones are heavily covered by moss. They will need to be cleaned to be accurately dated.

Historical overview
The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. However, as it appears on Russian topographical maps of the region from the 1880s, the cemetery was most likely founded in the late 19th century. Later, it appears on maps of Wojskowy Instytut Geograficzny (WIG) from 1939. The oldest preserved tombstone dates back to the early 20th century.
