Historical overview

Opening of the Jewish cemetery was in 1818 that survived WWII in pretty good condition, but in post-war years was systematically robbed and destroyed. The preserved beitt tahara is converted to residential quarters. The site is cleaned every few years especially by youth. By Spring 2006, students from the Wroclaw Municipal Gimnazjum No 13 came to help restore the Cemetery. Interestingly, the ancestors of German writer Thomas Mann’s wife are buried in the Cemetery.
