General site condition
The territory is abandoned, it is an acacia forest divided by a road leading to an agricultural site. Broken gravestones were found in the eastern part at the end of the cemetery, however none were found in the western part.

Historical overview

The Jewish cemetery of Nyírkércs was established as early as 1870, since it appears on the cadastral map of that year. No legible tombstones—which could supply more information about the years in which the cemetery was active—were found in this cemetery. It has not been fenced.

According to census data, the Jewish population of Nyírkércs never exceeded 40 people. 32 Jews lived there in 1840, 20 in 1880, 16 in 1910, and 29 in 1920. The Jewish population peaked at 35 in 1930. By 1941, 19 Jews were living in the village. According to the Yad Vashem database, about 24 Jews from Nyírkércs were murdered in the Holocaust.
