Historical overview
The Jewish cemetery of Nyírbéltek was established as early as 1870, since it appears on the cadastral map of that year. The latest tombstone found in the cemetery was erected in 1942. The cemetery has been fenced.
In 1840, 17 Jews lived in the village, later increasing to 108 in 1880, and 128 by 1930. According to the Yad Vashem database, about 150 Jews from Nyírbéltek were murdered in the Holocaust.
