Historical overview
The Jewish cemetery in Nowa Sól was established in the second half of the 19th century - according to various sources, in 1860, 1870 or 1877. The cemetery occupied a plot of 12.80 ares, on a square-like plan, located at the corner of Angerstrasse (now Wyspiańskiego Street). ) and Mathildenstrasse (now ul. Wandy).
Probably the last pre-war funeral took place in 1935. In 1943 the owner of the cemetery was the Jewish Association in Germany, which in 1944 was forced to sell the cemetery to the city. The transaction was made on September 22, 1944, subject to the payment of money in the amount of 2,800 marks to the treasury of the city of Kożuchów.
After the Second World War, at least three burials took place in the cemetery. In the 1960s, the cemetery was fenced with prefabricated concrete elements, and adjacent to the buildings on both sides. The technical condition of the fence was assessed as average. The area was disordered, covered with trees and shrubs, the tombstones were devastated in 90%.
On February 18, 1963, the Presidium of the Municipal National Council in Nowa Sól submitted a motion to close and liquidate several cemeteries
