The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. It cannot be found marked on old maps of the region. However, epigraphic data suggests the cemetery already existed in the first half of the 20th century.
The earliest evidence of a Jewish community in Novyy Bykiv dates to the first half of the 19th century. According to the 1897 census, there were 367 Jews living in the town (13,9%). In 1897, there were 2 synagogues. By 1913, Jews owned both grocery shops, both factories, and the only tobacco shop. According to the 1926 census, the Jewish population numbered 24 people. The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. It cannot be found marked on old maps of the region. However, epigraphic data suggests the cemetery already existed in the first half of the 20th century. The last known Hasidic Jewish burial took place in 1941. The stones were removed and were used for the construction of roads and other structures. The cemetery contains no known mass graves.
