The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. It cannot be found marked on old maps of the region. The oldest preserved tombstone dates to the early 20th century, from which it can be inferred the cemetery was founded during that era. According to the Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage, the older part of the cemetery was demolished during war time, with the tombstones being used to pave Sverdlova Street.
