Historical overview

The Jewish cemetery of Méhtelek was established as early as 1897, since it appears on the cadastral map of that year. It was demolished at an unknown time.

According to census data, 9 Jews lived in Méhtelek in 1840. In 1880, the Jewish population peaked at 43, after which it began to decrease. 28 Jews lived in the town in 1910, 24 in 1920, 26 in 1930, and 18 in 1941. According to the Yad Vashem database, about 30 Jews from Méhtelek were murdered in the Holocaust.
