Historical overview
The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. According to a survey carried out under the International Jewish Cemetery Project, organised by the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies, the oldest preserved tombstone is dated 1772. The ESJF were able to find tombstones on the site dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.
