The cemetery is protected on its front side by its original 4 metres tall stone wall. It is not fenced on its other sides, but there are remnants of the old masonry wall along its northwest edge. The wall needs restoration on the northwest side of the cemetery. The other sides require the construction of a new fence. The cemetery site is surrounded by woodland.

Historical overview

According to IAJGS, the land on which the cemetery site sits was purchased by the Chevra Kadisha in 1845. The well-known author, Juraj Spitzer (1919-1995), is buried in the cemetery.
