ESJF and the Jewish community of Sălaj carried out cleaning work at several Jewish cemeteries that were fenced by ESJF in previous years, with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). We are very grateful to the President of the Comunitatea Evreilor Zalau Sj, Dan Has, for his ongoing cooperation.
– The Jewish cemetery in Bobota, Sălaj county, dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Around a dozen tombstones have survived there, mostly dating from the 1910s-1920s.
– The Jewish cemetery in Păușa likely dates back to the 1880s. Today, several dozen tombstones remain, most of them dating from the 1910s and 1920s.
– The Jewish cemetery in Giurtelecu Șimleului preserves around a dozen tombstones, dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th century.
– Approximately 20 tombstones have been preserved at the Chichisa Jewish cemetery.
