Our Senior Surveyor, Ian Galevskii, is planning to visit 22 Jewish cemeteries in the country. During the first round, which was completed before Pesach, ESJF surveyed 15 Jewish cemeteries across 7 regions in Bulgaria.
ESJF’s work in Bulgaria is part of a broader project to document Jewish cemeteries across the Northern and Southern Balkans, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Slovenia.
