ESJF has completed the documentation of all known Jewish cemetery sites in Kosovo

In a country covering 10,887 square kilometres, ESJF initially had records of eight locations that could potentially be Jewish burial sites.

Following the field survey, our team confirmed that five of them are Jewish cemeteries, located in Pristina, Mitrovica, Prizren, Novo Brdo, and Radevo.

The survey was carried out by ESJF Senior Surveyor Ian Galevskii together with Lekë Rezniqi, Head of the Kosova Israeli Friendship Association.

Usually, once a national survey is completed, ESJF publishes a comprehensive report documenting the location and current condition of all known Jewish cemetery sites in the country. The report on Kosovo is coming soon.

ESJF’s surveys in Kosovo are part of a broader plan to document Jewish cemeteries across the Balkans and the Baltic region: Estonia, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Slovenia.
