In Malacky and Kuchyňa, primary school students learned the basics of symbols and inscriptions on Jewish tombstones. After the lectures, they visited the local Jewish cemeteries, where they tried reading the dates of death and other inscriptions themselves. The event in Štúrovo was organized by ESJF specifically at the invitation of a local teacher.

The cemetery tours and lectures were led by Dr. Ján Hlavinka (Dokumentačné stredisko holokaustu), in cooperation with our partners in Slovakia, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Slovakia (Židia na Slovensku).

These educational events, as well as the fencing projects at the Jewish cemeteries in Malacky and Kuchyňa, were made possible with the financial support of the Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office).
