The Perechyn Jewish cemetery, Ukraine, which the ESJF fenced in 2019, was cleared by the city council. This is one of the best examples of how our close cooperation with local authorities can result in the long term care and preservation of Jewish cemeteries!
The once abandoned cemetery is now not only well taken care of but also protected by its historical status due to its cadastral number. We are extremely grateful and amazed to see that even now, during the war and difficulties with the local budget, the city council still finds time to maintain their local Jewish cemetery. A big thanks to the Head of the City Council, Ivan Pohorilyak for leading this activity!
