We would like to introduce Kateryna Kryvko, a 16 year-old high school student, who we finally had the pleasure of meeting in her home village of Derazhnie. Kate wrote to us about the neglected state of the Derazhnie Jewish cemetery and how great a pity it was to see it in such a condition after the destruction of the local Jewish community in the Shoah, asking us what we could do to protect it.
Thanks to Kateryna Kryvko, we have now extended our educational programmes to encompass her school in Derazhnie, and will begin work on protecting the cemetery this year. Here is Kate alongside ESJF Education Coordinator Natalia Videneeva, Research and Communications Coordinator Khrystyna Shmatok, and her parents at the Jewish cemetery.
