Gravestones extracted from the lake and returned to Briceva Jewish Cemetery

Following ESJF’s fencing of the Briceva Jewish cemetery, gravestones discovered in the lake nearby have been returned to the site. The matzevot had been removed from the abandoned cemetery over the years and used as stepping stones by locals.

The ESJF completed construction on the fencing at Briceva only last week, marking our first completed cemetery project in Moldova.
