In just over a month, work will begin on a special project undertaken by the ESJF to renovate the roof of the historically and architecturally unique pre-burial house (Beit-Tahara) at the Jewish Cemetery in Chernivtsi (Chernowitz) in southwestern Ukraine. Last week, ESJF Chief Engineer Gryhorri Arshinov went to the city to agree upon the construction plan.
Funded by a special grant from the German Federal Foreign Ministry, the ESJF will begin renovation on the dilapidated roof soon. The site has been earmarked to become a Museum of the Holocaust, as part of a project supported by a number of international organisations. Work will commence in early May, with completion expected around October.
