In a little over a month, work will start on a special project undertaken by the ESJF to renovate the roof of the historic and architecturally unique pre-burial house (Bet Tahara) at the Jewish Cemetery of Chernivtsi (Chernowitz) in south-western Ukraine. Last week, ESJF Chief Engineer Gryhorii Arshinov agreed the construction plan during meetings in the city. Funded by a special grant from the German Federal Foreign Ministry, the ESJF will begin renovation of the dilapidated roof at the site. The site has been earmarked to become a Museum of the Holocaust in Chernowitz, a project supported by a number of international organisations. Work will start in early May with completion expected around October.
