ESJF education programmes underway in Volyhn region in North-Western Ukraine

ESJF Historical Research Officer Kate Malakhova addressed school students today in Lutsk, capital of the Volyhn region of NW Ukraine.

The lectures and school visits are part of ESJF’s educational programmes to mobilise young people to care of the historical heritage of former Jewish communities in these areas as part of Ukraine’s and the region’s own rich national and local heritage.

Students learn about the area’s Jewish history with a focus on Jewish cemeteries and their protection. Four high schools in Lutsk are taking part in this project which follows on from several successful projects held by the ESJF in the neighbouring Rivne region.
