ESJF announces completion of fencing in Nyzhny Stanivtsi

Fencing has been completed at the Jewish cemetery of Nyzhny Stanivtsi in the Chernivtsi (Chernowitz) region of south-western Ukraine.

This project was made possible by ESJF funding provided by the German government, as well as a very generous donation from Mr. Isaac Meir Berenstein of New York, facilitated by our partners at the Geder Avos Jewish Heritage Group.

Mr. Berenstein is a descendant of Moshe Tzvi Hager of Stanovitz (1842-1896), a grandson of Menachem Mendel of Kosov, the founder of the Kosov Hassidic dynasty.

This project, which ran well into the winter, marks the final ESJF project in the historic region of Bukovina this year.
