Ceremony marks the fencing at Prague’s Smichov cemetery

A short ceremony was held at Prague’s Smichov Jewish Cemetery on Monday to mark the fencing of the site by the ESJF in collaboration with the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic (Federace židovských obcí v ČR). ESJF Chief Executive Officer Philip Carmel addressed the ceremony, highlighting the importance of the work carried out by the ESJF across Central and Eastern Europe, which has now seen 102 sites fenced since 2015.

Also addressing the gathering were Israel’s Ambassador Daniel Meron, Christof Israng, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Czech Republic, and Tomas Kraus, Executive Director of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the Czech Republic.
