This week the ESJF obtained a cadastral number for the Perechyn Jewish cemetery in Ukraine. This is a huge achievement for our team. The land is now recognised as a cemetery, which is protected by law and is thus protected from development in the future. Before our work on the fencing and the legal protection of the Perechyn cemetery, part of the cemetery was used as a garden where potatoes were grown. Now it is forbidden to grow anything on the site and it is systematically cleaned. The completion of the Perechyn Jewish cemetery project would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Perechyn City Council (Перечинська міська рада) and Mayor Ivan Pogorilyak (Іван Погоріляк).
